Embodiment as Accountability Practice in Social Justice Activism

Workshop With Somatic Practitioner Hala Khouri

Tuesday, October 26th 1pm to 3pm EST

Register to attend here

Social Justice has the goal of making sure everyone has the access to what they need to survive and thrive.  People in movements work tirelessly to disrupt systems of power and oppression and center the voices and wellbeing of those who are marginalized.  The shadow side of this work is participating in an “us” and “them” mentality that lets us off the hook from admitting the ways we all can participate and be complicit in oppressive dynamics. It also fails to see that everyone is negatively impacted in systems of oppression; even those benefitting from them.

In this workshop, we will explore embodied practices and a paradigm of somatic awareness that can support us to truly be the change we want to see.  Radical self-awareness and accountability are the foundation of authentic and impactful social change work.  Participants will be invited to reflect on the life experiences that have shaped them so that they can make a stand for collective liberation in a meaningful way.  We will dream together with the future we want to inhabit and vision the steps it takes to get there.

There is no charge for this event.  Recording will be available.  For questions or more information, please contact Anne Smith anne@vtnetwork.org.
