OVERVIEW: Vermont’ Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program seeks to provide certified Adult and Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners for any victim of sexual assault that presents at any of Vermont’s hospitals.  The SANE Program is comprised of:

  • The SANE Advisory Board, which is statutorily established to regulate sexual assault nurse examiners and oversee the Vermont SANE Program;
  • A Clinical Coordinator who is charged with various activities and responsibilities related to clinical support and oversight of the SANE Program; and
  • A Program Coordinator who is charged with various activities and responsibilities related to the administration and implementation of the SANE Program.
  • A  SANE Program Coordinating Team comprised of the Clinical Coordinator, Program Coordinator, Director of the Vermont Network or designee, and Director of Crime Victims’ Services or designee.  The SANE Coordinating Team meets to problem solve issues as they arise, create protocols and systems for recommendation to the Advisory Board, and collaborate to implement the goals of the SANE program.   

DETAILS:      The Vermont Network is seeking a contractor to fulfill its Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program Clinical Coordinator Contract.  Deliverables include:

  • Fulfill functions of SANE Clinical Coordinator detailed in Vermont SANE Rules.   
  • Participate as a member of the SANE Coordinating Team.
  • Recruit and provide support to retain Adult and Pediatric SANES throughout the state. Provide SANES and Pediatric SANES with technical assistance, support and information.  Create a system for responding to inquiries from SANEs with emergent practice issues. 
  • Create opportunities to institutionalize SANE Programming in all Vermont hospitals.
  • Fulfill all Quality Assurance functions outlined in the Vermont SANE Rules.
  • Attend and participate in quarterly SANE Advisory Board meetings including preparing a report on activities which is distributed to the Advisory Board.
  • Order, distribute, monitor and track all sexual assault evidence kits.  Implement quality assurance system for evidence kits.  In collaboration with the SANE Advisory Board and SANE Coordinating Team, make changes to the contents and procedures for kits as appropriate.  In collaboration with the SANE Coordinating Team, address systems issues related to storing and transporting kits.  
  • Administer and monitor a SANE list serve.
  • Create and implement SANE training and certification plans.   

CONTRACT:  Average of eight (8) hours per week.
