Aware offers free, confidential help to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Services Available:

Abuse is using violence or the threat of violence to control someone. It can be physical violence against you, your children, or your pets. It can be threats, intimidation, put-downs or insults. It can be the destruction of your property.Abuse is about power and control.

You may be in an abusive relationship if

You:
Are afraid of your partners temper;
Give in because you are afraid of your partner's anger;
Apologize to yourself and others for your partners behavior.
Your partner:
Is very different at home than in public
Always needs to know where you are
Discourages or forbids your relationships with family or friends
Physically or emotionally hurts or threatens to hurt you or your children
Tells you that it's all your fault.

Sexual Assault is sex without consent. It can be:
Having someone touch you or making you touch them when you don't want to;
Being forced to take part in sexual acts without your consent;
Sex which is coerced by threats or fear of physical harm;
Sexual contact with someone who lacks the ability to consent because of
the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Sexual assault can occur between strangers, friends, acquaintances, relatives, partners and spouses.

Everyone deserves to be safe.
No one deserves to be beaten, raped, or threatened.
